Today, 30 years ago on 18 December 1987, the first game in the Final Fantasy series was released on the Nintendo Famicom in Japan. What maybe was the last game for the, at that time, small developer Square before they went bankrupt, became one of the best selling game franchises.

In the last presentation of Nintendo Direct that was broadcasted yesterday Nintendo has announced that they have partnered together with Square Enix to release Bravely Default: Flying Fairy across the United States and Europe for the Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is a classic RPG which features a job system (like Final Fantasy V). The game was received in Japan very well, but has not sold that well (around 320,000 copies).

The game will be released in Europe somewhere this year and in the United States in 2014.

Nintendo has announced that they will parter up with Square Enix to release Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies this Summer in North America and Europe.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies has sold more than 4.15 million copies in Japan since its release back in July 2009. However, outside Japan the series aren't really a success. Is this the reason why they don't release the game themselves?
