Final Fantasy XIV

After a long wait yesterday was the day that the PlayStation 4 was released in Japan (and is sold out already). On this day the first beta phase of the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has also started. Anybody with a PlayStation 4 can download the beta from the PlayStation Store and start playing! Please note that this phase will be played on a dedicated beta server and you can not import your character from other versions. Characters will be wiped after phase 1 which will end on 3 March. Phase 2 will take place from 4 March till 7 March and will allow you to import your existing characters and will be able to bring it to the retail version.

Also recently Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been released on Steam and is 50% off till Tuesday!

Final Fantasy VIII

Square Enix has announced that as of today Final Fantasy VIII is available for download on the Square Enix Store and Steam. Like the re-release of Final Fantasy VII, this version has been enhanced for modern PC's and has some new features like cloud saving, a magic booster and 45 Steam achievements. Like the original PC version, which was released back in 2000 by Eidos, Chocobo World is also available.

Final Fantasy VIII is available for $ 11,99 / € 12,99 on the Square Enix Store (NA / EU) and Steam.

Final Fantasy VII

Today Square Enix has officially released the PC version of Final Fantasy VII on Steam included with the same features as the 'enhanced' version that was released in the Square Enix Store in August 2012.

Features in the 'enhanced' PC version of Final Fantasy VII are 36 achievements (from winning your first battle to beating Ruby Weapon), cloud saving and a character booster. The game can be bought for €12.99 / £9.99 / $11.99 from the Steam page. Quite expansive still for an almost 16 years old game.

However, fans that have purchased the 'enhanced' PC version of the game in the Square Enix Store are now complaining that they want a Steam key and don't want to purchase the game again. I kind of agree with that. Square Enix, stop being a money grabber and listen to your fans!
