Like in many other Final Fantasy games chocobo's are present in this Final Fantasy. But the system is totally different. No more racing and breeding chocobo's. Chocobo's only appear in Chocobo Forests now. They look like a little round forest.
When you enter a Chocobo Forest for the first time you meet a little boy called Chocoboy. He'll explain about how to catch a chocobo when you give him 1000 Gil for a ChocoWhis. You can't get any chocobo without it! The ChocoWhis is used for locating baby chocobo's called chicobos. The ChocoWhis has 2 modes: ChocoSonar and ChocoZiner. With the ChocoSanar you can locate chicobo's while holding the square button. If it goes berserk, you need the other mode, the ChocoZiner. When you blow the ChocoZiner on the right spot some chicobo's will fall down. But beware, if you're not on the right spot your ChocoZiner get stolen and you'll need to buy a new one. They cost ya 700 Gil, so don't go blowing anywhere without checking the ChocoZiner first.
The goal is to have only one chicobo left in the forest, speak with it and the nervous parent chocobo will appear. This is quite a puzzle in some forests, but you'll manage. After you solved it you can look for hidden items in the forest. The chocobo will dig it for you when you found one. If you found a hidden item the chocobo will become your friend and will not hide from you anymore. But if you don't find a hidden item and leave the forest you'll have to redo the puzzle.
If you can't solve the puzzle you can ask Chocoboy for help, but
that will cost ya. A question will cost you 10 Gil, a hint 100 Gil
and if you're sick of puzzles you can select "Help Me!".
Chocoboy will catch you a chocobo, but it will cost you 1200 Gil!
You can also buy Gysahl Greens for 600 Gil each. Use the item in
battle to summon a chocobo GF.
