In Final Fantasy VII you can pay a visit to the Gold Saucer. It's a theme park close to North Corel. There you can play games, do battles etc. By winning those games you can earn GP (only in the Chocobo and Wonder Square). It cost Gil though.

Here you can bet on a chocobo who you think is gonna win. But later in the game you can race on your own chocobo that you captured and breed in the Chocobo Farm. You can earn rare items and materia when winning a chocobo race. You can also get GP instead of the winning item.

Every time when you defeat a enemy the message "Great!", and your current BP will be displayed on the right side of the screen. You will be asked if you wish to keep going, and given 2 choices: "Off Course!!" or "No Way". When you go on a slot will spin to select your handicap. The maximum is 8, so go for it.
